The Easter Bunny
Easter is a time of celebration. Different cultures celebrate Easter in different ways — In North America, parents tell their children that eggs have been delivered and hidden by the Easter Bunny in an Easter basket. Children find them when they wake up.
Did you know that the Bunny as an Easter symbol originates in Alsace and southwestern Germany? The first edible Easter Bunnies were made in Germany during the early 1800s and were made of pastry and sugar. The Easter Bunny was introduced to America by the German settlers who arrived in the Pennsylvania Dutch country during the 1700s.
The Easter Bunny has also become a very common advertizing icon. It is not uncommon for kids to beg their parents for a bunny of their own! Yet, while adopting a bunny can be a positive life changing experience for both the pet and the guardian, each year, unwanted, former Easter rabbits fill local rabbit rescues and humane societies. At Montreal Critters, we would love to see less rabbits in rescues after Easter, not more!

Guinea Pigs for Adoption at Jodie's Jiggley Piggley Farm
Jodie's Jiggley Piggley Farm has a few cute pigglets looking for a new home!
Here are a few of them:
Jodie's Jiggley Piggley Farm is Montreal's #1 halfway house for previously unappreciated guinea pigs. But they don't just offer rescue and adoption services, they also offer small animal boarding, grooming, nail cutting and de-licing services. They offer good quality hay at a great price as well!
When we go out of town or need to send a small critter on sleep-away camp, Jodie's Jiggley Piggley Farm is our first choice.
